Banana Stick, also ffrom the Muscae family and commonly a cultivarof Musa x paradisiaca, features a long, slender fruit shape that resembles a thick stick, with firmer texture and less sugary taste. The plant can grow between 3 to 6 meters high with pseudostems reaching 20 cm in diameter and spirally arranged leaves measuring 1.5 – 2.5 meters long. These bananas have pale green to yellow skin and a more fibrous flesh. They provide potassium, vitamin C, magnesium, and resistant starch, which benefits blood sugar control and gut health. Banana stick varieties are often boiled, fried, or grilled, especially in savory dishes. They ripen off the plant at room temperature and should be kept cool and dry after ripening. Their plant’s biomass is also useful in crafting biodegradable materials.
